A problem and many solutions

Half of the world population cook burning wood, charcoal or animal dung, and the emissions of open fires or inefficient coostoves kill more than a million and a half children every year. According to the World Health Organization, indoor air pollution is one of the main issues for health for three billion people.

The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves  sponsored by Hillary Clinton and Julia Roberts and the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air aare making very important networking actions.

In order to save human lives, protect the environment and prevent deforestation, a community of engineers, artisans, ngo experts and volunteers gathers every Summer at Aprovecho Research Center to develop and build and test the right stove.

For every cooking tradition, for every cooking habit, there is a different cooking fuel and stove and pot; that's why the network of artisans and scientists and ong workers is ready to face the challenge of testing different kinds of stoves. An important platform is the International Biochar Initiative, focused on biochar and gasifiers.
